The M-520 would be PERFECT for the project studio owner or serious commercial production studio. It is well suited for either 8 or 16 track work, particularly for those of you with Hard Disk recorders, ADAT or DA-88's. It would be a bit overkill for a church or band PA console but for the price would be extremely flexible in just about any audio situation, studio or live.
This console sold for $10,900 originally.
This is a 20 channel mixer with 8 subs, 4 aux sends, and features a separate 16 channel monitor section. Each channel input has three selectable inputs (line in/ tape in/ mic in). Additional inputs are provided for phono inputs, instrument inputs, and 2-track returns. The console includes a full 10 VU meter bridge (8 subs and stereo master) and the PS-520 rack mount power supply module. It is dressed with walnut wood trim on the console sides and the meter bridge sides.
Each channel features three-band parametric EQ section, 8 buss assign buttons, stereo pan pot, 4 aux sends, line and mic attenuation pot, norm/reverse phase switch, 2-position mic attenuation switch, various mute/solo buttons, and full-throw linear fader. There are 4 master auxiliary send linear faders and a stereo master fader for mixdown. The monitor section features talkback, slate, and 3-tone oscillator section. In addition, instant monitoring at the master section is provided for 2-track stereo A & B, 2 AUX inputs and SPARE. Separate volumes are provided for talkback mic and slate volume. A Stereo Master "B" fader is provided for either send to tape or headphones. A single modification has been made to the Stereo Master path which enables the operator to insert processing at the final stereo mix bus. We used this mod to insert master processing to the mixdown. This would be a perfect place to insert a TC Electronics Finalizer+ mastering processor, or similar device to enhance the final master mix.
